Nice wood work. Matt finish not gloss. I disagree with other reviewer who says no place to store dices. Dices can be stored in the generic plastic bag provided left in the playing zone during storage or better: on the side between the black and white men (middle section). Game cover can be closed and dices will not fall out when put there. Lid magnet also very strong. I find that the 2 dice cups made of single piece of wood with bottom velvet inset are cute but the dices don't really mix well inside because they are too big. Cups are already the maximum thickness to still be able to fit inside the game. As a red-green colorblind person, I can still read well the playing surface- good color contrast. For full game pleasure, buy a larger set of course.

Very nicely finished and a nice, convenient size. Only minor quibbles are that the pieces are smaller than their holders so they tend to not stay put and there is no spot to actually store the dice (there's only enough space for the doubling cube). A good size for portability.
