It is kind of difficult to project myself playing Mah Jong with cards when I have always been playing with tiles. Nonetheless this set is an original variant, is light and compact and written only in Chinese- good for learning how to differentiate the winds, dragons and characters suits! I suppose one stacks the card vertically (tower instead of a wall!) rather than building a wall laterally that would be only two thin card thick. Remains the question of the dead wall/tower... I surmise that one can make three contiguous or criscrossing towers: a short dead tower portion/wall, short loose cards/tiles tower portion and tallest active tower top/wall for drawing. The cards are slender. No more tile turning and shuffling on the table, it is done in one's hands. The 'boneyard' of visible discards takes less space because the cards are narrow. YMI MJ cards stock number YM-AA001-A are more like usual playing cards size-wise, easier to handle/not drop and loose in my opinion (and tougher to hide...)but the bone yard needs a large table unless you just overlap the discarded cards letting only the top showing to save space. Set comes with: no instructions, no wind indicator and no dice. Cards are of the SING ULAR brand and this name shows in the middle of the back of the cards.
