The classic drawer style case is made of very solid rosewood made in the style of high end 1920's Shanghai mahjong sets. The three dice are made from ebony wood and copper. This set has 166 large tiles, including all the 144 tiles for classical Chinese play as well as an extra 22 tiles for the American version of the game. With this set you can comfortably play either version. Please take note that the tiles for this set are thicker than traditional American mahjong tiles, as they are designed to stand upright on their own without racks, and because of the materials they are made of, they are heavier as well. The total weight of the tiles and case is 26 pounds. Please take this into account when ordering if weight is a concern for you, or if the person you are buying this mahjong set for might have trouble lifting a heavy set.
