I am a new player. I played with a group of ladies who trained me on day one. There were 3 tables. Two had traditional tiles, and one had a boutique set. I learned with the boutique set. I have heard that people tend to buy "what they learned on". I suppose this is true. I set out to find the coolest, most "me" tiles out there. I bought a beautiful set from a Chinese Import site. I waited, and waited, nearly a month - the tiles arrived... cheap, thin, plastic. Boo. Returned. I then bought a few other sets that I didn't like. Returned. I looked at racks, and tile bags, and tiles.... I finally decided on the Ivory Stripes set in a canvas bag with wood racks. This is the set I love. I don't want anyone to be uncertain about what each tile is. I love the subtle stripes on the back. They are noticeably nicer than the "sets" on that popular online site. They are also considerably less $$$ than the hard-to-read, colorful, fancy, boutique sets. I brought them to play with the "fancy ladies," and they were impressed. This is now my "go-to" set. They will go with any mat, easy to read, basic, nice, traditional..... PERFECT
I am so happy with this beautiful set of traditional ivory stripe tiles. The detail on the back of the tile is subtle but classic. A little touch of design to set it apart from a plain backed tile. The weight and feel of the tile is substantial and they feel like a high quality set. I wanted a simple traditional set of tiles that was easy to transport and this fits the bill perfectly.
I really love the bag and the included storage cases for the tiles and the racks. I can even fold up my mat and store it in the bag as well with my cards and dice. The tile racks are great quality! I especially love that the racks have a magnet only on the left side when set up as a wall - this helps to smoothly move the wall of tiles out with ease. Do not hesitate to buy this set! It is gorgeous!
Love this tile set! Nice engraved painted tiles. Ivory color is so easy on your eyes. Size and feel is perfect. Wooden racks take a minute to get used to. Wish they had a little end piece on the left to stop your wall but not a deal breaker. The bag is heavy duty and should hold up for a long time. I am absolutely pleased with this set and Yellow Mountain!
Unfortunately I received the wrong items several weeks ago and still don’t have a final resolution through Customer Service. They said they were sending me a new one, and asked me for my address (which they should have but I have provided again multiple times) but I haven’t received tracking information or instructions on what to do with the wrong set. Answering emails every 3-4 days isn’t great Customer Service. I’m sure it will be a nice set if I ever receive it, but I won’t ever buy from YMI again…. Super disappointed and frustrated.
