The mat has a texture that is like a cross between a towel and thin carpet. I would send it back, but the shipping would be more than it's worth. I ordered a smooth neoprene mat from another company and tossed this one.

I’m very happy with the Mah Jongg table cover. It’s a good weight and size, doesn’t slide and the color is nice. It rolls up and fits nicely into the provided storage case. I prefer mats that roll up as opposed to folding for storage. It seems folded mats might crease over time, shortening the life of the mat. This mat is excellent quality for a reasonable price.

These mats are great. They are delivered rolled, not folded, and lay flat on the table. Great for playing mahjong!
