The wood has a nice color and grain and the stones have a nice feel. The lines on the board are crisp and clear. I have only two minor concerns. (1) The bowls for the stones are difficult to open and close - something from Tupperware would be better. (2) The lines on the board are raised over the surface, and I am worried that with extended play, they will get chipped or worn. I don't know that it will happen, but it might.
I bought this for my niece and nephew, great value for the price.
I am new to go and wanted to start with a 9x9 board with room to move up to the 13x13 before getting ton the full sized board. After a couple of weeks playing on it, this board is great! It's light enough to carry around easily, but I'm not worried about scratching or damaging it because it feels sturdy too. The game pieces feel good, and I really like the double convex over the single. Having to place them on the rounded surface makes the experience feel more mindful. The stone containers are okay. They are plastic, and the close securely which is nice, but they aren't pretty or expressive, so I will likely replace them, but keep the stones.
The board is smooth and the lines are precise, couldn't ask for more! Plastic stones are cheaper but not as heavy or snappy as more expensive stones, all told, beautiful set altogether.
