My 14 year-old grandson is a board game aficcianado and quickly becoming a cracker jack chess player. He loved this Christmas gift. Now he has a proper board and pieces to play with. No sooner had he opened it than he and his uncle were setting up the board and challenging each other to a match, his uncle expressing much admiration for the set. Grandson very happy with his adult gift; uncle chafing at the bit to try and beat the whiz kid.
Although pieces and board was of good quality, I was overall disappointed in the color scheme of both pieces and board. The color of the pieces remind me of a plastic set. More important - the pieces look sickly on the board. Good height but not enough thickness to give this set an eloquent appearance.
