Shin Kaya 1.6-Inch Reversible 19x19 / 13x13 Go Game Board (Goban)
Master and enjoy one of the world's oldest strategy games on this reversible Japanese standard size Shin Kaya Go game board with 19x19 and 13x13 playing fields.
- Two Playing Fields: This reversible board has 19x19 playing field on one side and 13x13 on the other; The 19x19 side is for standard gameplay, while the 13x13 is great for learning rules and fundamentals and for quick games
- Shin Kaya Go Board: Shin Kaya is valued for the resonating sound it creates when the stone hits the wood, its soft touch, beautiful grain patterns, color, shine, and even fragrance; Our shin kaya comes from Tibetan spruce wood of the Yunnan province in southern China
- Japanese Standard Size: The board measures 18.1 x 16.9 x 1.6 inches (46 x 43 x 4 centimeters) with Japanese standard size grids of 21.5 x 23 millimeters; It weighs 4.6kg (10.14lbs); Go stones and bowls are not included
- The Way to Go: Included is Karl Baker's beginner classic booklet explaining the essential rules and strategies of Go.
For $100, the goban is amazing. The only downside is that the board I got was made with 5 pieces of wood which is somewhat expected for the price. Also, the goban looks like it's thicker than 1.6 inches, 2-2.4 inches?
This board is gorgeous! I've had a bamboo board for a while now and decided to upgrade to this. The sound is wonderfully resonant and the board itself has amazing grain patterns and a beautiful golden hue. After receiving this, I can't imagine ever needing to upgrade.
Great board no problems
Very impressed. I like the feel of the board and it's nice to play on.
